It would be nice if McDavid wins, but I expect it will be Panarin. I'm glad McDavid and Ghost were both nominated.
That said, you make some great points and it is laughable that Panarin is still considered a rookie. The KHL is definitely a pro league.
I really can't wait for the next Garth blog about Eichel not being nominated...Gonna be epic. |

All three are great. However, as a defenseman, what Gostisbehere did is more impressive. If it wasn't for Ghost, the Flyers wouldn't have made the playoffs.
Therefore his impact on the team was more important. |

Garth suggests Hall and 4th overall to Buffalo for 8th, Ennis, Gorges and Pysyk.

I agree to a point, but McDavid is on a whole different level. |

Even if Panarin wasn't able to qualify as a rookie, I think McDavid is still behind Ghost as rookie of the year. |

i would have to agree.... alot of weight is put in the impact he has on his team... i.e. did the player contribute to his team success. |

People are all gonna use criteria that supports their bias
I'm hearing "contributes to team success" or "played a full season " a lot lately
Neither of which are in the description of what the Calder is awarded for .
"the player selected as the most proficient in his first year of competition in the National Hockey League (NHL)."
Either way, it's nice that Connor got nominated despite the long term injury. But it doesn't matter who wins the award or what criteria they decide is relevant because Connor mcdavid is by far the best rookie player |

Panarin and Ghost are both very good players but they can't carry Connor's jock strap.

why do oilers fans take it so personal.. no one is taking away from how good mcdavid is.. just putting forth the argument that a player playing half a season roughly is not deserving of a major nhl award. |

Again, I dont begrudge your bias and troll. It's fine
Mcdavid is not only the best rookie, he's one of the best players regardless of experience
But Give panarin the award for playing more games. All good by me. Maybe there's even some logic in it, regardless that neither is more gp a criteria |
